Interactive USPS Mailpiece Templates

Zone positions and measurements sourced directly from USPS DMM 201 (updated 4-6-26) and DMM 202. These guides are for layout planning only — always submit final designs to your USPS Business Mail Entry Unit or a Mailpiece Design Analyst before production. Measurements marked (DMM §n.n) reference the specific section.

USPS DMM reference by mailpiece type

Postcard (DMM 201 §1.2 + 202 §5.1)

Card price: max 4¼×6". Address on right two-thirds of face. Address portion ≥2⅛" wide. IMb in barcode clear zone: right 4¾" from right edge, bottom ⅝". Return address upper-left. Postage upper-right. Min 75 lb paper.

Letter (DMM 201 §1.1 + 202 §2.1 / §5.1)

Max 11½×6⅛"×¼". OCR read area: ½" from left, ½" from right, top 2¾" from bottom, bottom ⅝" from bottom. Barcode clear zone (no printing): right 4¾", bottom ⅝". IMb in BCZ lower-right. Return address upper-left. Postage upper-right.

Flat (DMM 201 §4 + 202 §2.2)

"Top" = either shorter edge. Address must be in the top half as oriented for reading. At least ⅛" from any edge. IMb anywhere on address side, ≥⅛" from any edge. For automation flats min 5"×6", max 12"×15".

Folded Self-Mailer (DMM 201 §3.14)

Final fold = bottom. Open edge of back panel = top or within 1" of top/trailing. Bi-fold/tri-fold: 2 tabs on TOP edge — one within 1" of leading (right), one within 1" of trailing (left) — OR one on leading and one on trailing, both within 1" from top. Address must not cross a fold.

Booklet — Simple Spine (DMM 201 §3.16.5)

Spine at bottom. 3 tabs of 1½" nonperforated: (1) leading edge within 1" from top, (2) trailing edge within 1" from top, (3) lower leading edge ½" from bottom. Leading edge = right (direction of travel). Cover min 80 lb (basic). Address on back cover.

Booklet — Oblong (DMM 201 §3.16.7)

Spine on leading (shorter/left) edge. 3 tabs of 1½": two on TOP edge 1" from left and right edges; one in center of trailing (right) edge. Cover 60 lb (5–9" long), 70 lb (over 9"). Max 3 oz.

Booklet — Wallet (DMM 201 §3.16.6)

Spine at bottom. 4" high, 5.2–8" long, max 2.5 oz. Up to 2 oz: 1½" tabs placed 1¼" from bottom on leading and trailing edges. Over 2 oz: 2" tabs placed ¾" from bottom. ±⅛" vertical tolerance.

Tabs (DMM 201 §3.11)

Nonperforated. Paper, vinyl, or plastic. Tight against edge (max ¹⁄₁₆" overhang). Tabs in barcode clear zone must have paper face meeting reflectance standards. Vinyl tabs prohibited in BCZ. ¼" positional variance allowed. Glue spots may substitute — within ¾" of open edges.
